Hi,
If a unit goes from column to non column and there by triggers opportunity fire, does the firing unit (the unit doing the opportunity fire) fire at the unit
that triggered this as if it were still in column or would it fire at the unit at its non column status for purposes of resolving the opportunity
fire?

The Opportunity Fire attempt would be made at the Unit when it still has the effects of the column. See Series Rules 17.2, last paragraph.
