I know this game is probably very intense in detail based on the price tag, but can it be played in a solitaire mode and how difficult would it be to do so (i.e., low, moderate, or high)?

Hi All,
I know this game is probably very intense in detail based on the price tag, but can it be played in a solitaire mode and how difficult would it be to do so (i.e., low, moderate, or high)?

Hi Magua1,
I am just putting this beastie together and am clipping and sorting. A brief glimpse at the rules makes me say yes, this is do-able solitaire. Especially to learn the rules well enough to entice afriend in or take the game to a con to run. The chit system makes it happen and adds lots of fog of war. Simply play both sides to the best of your ability. It's also interesting (but time consuming) to take notes. If that is done, one can easily review how one used - or didn't use - the rules and it makes great reading fpr all the old grognards like myself who like to live through the games of others! Enjoy. This looks like a real winner. Principalman |

Thanks Principalman. I'll have to give it a try when I buy the game. I haven't decided between Avalanche Press's 'Alamein' or this
title. They seem like they are both excellent choices since both battles have always fascinated me.

I honestly think TDC would be a better choice, mostly due to the chit pull mechanic like principalman mentioned . I believe Alamein is an Igo-yougo game .
if you go to www.boardgamegeek.com there are a few postings and reviews of people playing TDC solitaire and having a lot of fun doing it ( I am one of them actually) here is a link http://boardgamegeek.com/thread/317111

I'm finding TDC very well suited for solitaire play. The chits keep things very dynamic; all I do is decide on a basic plan (i.e this group captures the
bridge, this group goes for the fort, these guys go to help whichever seems to be having difficulties). With just that level of preplanning I'm able to
play through the scenarios in very satisfactory fashion.I'm sure more formality could be introduced by writing down three basic plans per side and randomly
picking one but I haven't found it necessary to do so yet. Also, I don't know about the campaign, but I'll save that for the face to face play at
the local club!
